I found the same annoyance and apparently it's a recent OFCOM change. Even after the watershed it'll still ask for a PIN, probably because they think people will just change the time on their devices...

If you are watching that is part of Sky Boxsets then you need a boxset subscrition before you will be able to access it. The earlier seasons of Game of Thrones are on Sky Boxsets.
