I've been using it since I got my ipad - which was circa 2011 / 2012 so its probably more like 4 years, maybe 5! Its defineatly been around since I started using it thats for sure....
I wonder if it was like it in 2006 - TEN YEARS!

Easy fix? Well surely its a 'change sample rate (how many times the audio is looked at per second) from stupidly low to sensible and bit rate (how much information you're going to 'write') from 10kbps to something like 96kbps or above (maybe 64kbps would be ok)
I accidently exported a mp4 video using i think 28khz / 32khz sample rate, but the bitrate was around 112kbps - sounded fine to me
