No it can't
Since it seems important to Sky that people state their unhappiness, I just want to add my voice to all the other unhappy Sky Go Windows users. The latest update has done nothing to improve the picture and sound stutter, and the resource use on launching a stream remains outrageous.
On Task Manager I continue to see VideoGaurd taking 30-40% of CPU, and Sky Go a little less (basically between them taking all they can as the total CPU load is 100%). I would be interest on the CPU stats from anyone who has it working well, and are they seeing Sky Go opening multiple processes?
Overall, this remains a really poor effort from Sky, I wish they would at least admit this to be the case.
I am looking forward to hearing from someone (especially Sky!) on how long it will be before this problem is fixed!!
I pay for Sky Go through my multiscreen subscription and cannot watch a programme. Surely this is breach of contract? Paying for a service and not receiving it!?
I have gone through all the advice - I DO NOT HAVE A PROGRAMME RUNNING CAPABLE OF CAPTURING VIDEO!!
No Quicktime, Snipping Tool, VLC.....NOTHING ON THE LIST!
This must be addressed and sorted. I am sure I am now entitled to a refund for this service now and will need to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service if this is not corrected.

Have you excluded the Sky Go and Cisco directories from your AV? That will lower the CPU usage.
This link worked for me .
SKY GO previously work (albeit was always a little cluncky tempremental) on my Mac.
I have been trying to launch SKYGO on Mac over the last week and was getting the 'installation failed to complete in a timely manner' error.
Tried to delete / reinstall sky go a few times - but made no difference.
found and followed these instructions - a little technical and little worrying as not generally used to deleting files etc , but I guess in the end , reletively straight forwrad...
Not quite what you would expect to have to do given the amount we all pay for SKY - but there you go.
There are several programmes I download weekly from Sky go but over the last couple of months when I’ve gone into the sky go app. The programmes that were on the night before have not been uploaded for download sometimes even after a week of the show being aired.
This is very frustrating to say the least.
i am currently volunteering my services if you need someone to come and carry out this role I am available, which will probably make everyone who is experiencing the same issue Very Happy!
It is the responsibility of each broadcast to get their content onto the Sky platform and at times and for whatever reason some can be a little on the slow side. I was caught out by this a few weeks ago when a program I wanted to download was finally uploaded about 5 days after it was broadcast, sadly there isn't anything that can be done about it.
I’m getting these issues a lot these days. I used to get those 1400 error messages which was worse, but this now makes watching sky sports annoying as I have to restart the app or PS4 to get the game going again.
please tell me sky are working on this!?
Just downloaded the new update with no noticeable difference in the stuttering of audio and video .
I am considering buying one of these "Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 12.3" i7 256GB 8GB Ram" not just for skygo . Has anyone had any success or otherwise with Skygo on one of these ?

I use Sky Go no problem on a Surface Pro 2. I have the one with the 1.9Ghz i5. So the one you want to get should work just fine. Just don't forget to exclude the Sky Go and Cisco directories from Windows Defender. It lowers the CPU usage. But, it still worked before I did that. Oh and one other thing to do is turn off CiscoVideoGuardMonitor from running when you turn on the computer. And kill the process when you stop running Sky Go. Other than those little things, it should work well.
You might be able to help if you install and try Sky Go before you install any other software. Then as you install software, try Sky Go after you install each program. That way, if you get any errors or issues, you can uninstall the last installed software and if if then works again, you'll know it's a conflict. I do think part of the problem is a software conflict but there's no way to be sure unless it's proven.
I am Disabled too and completely get where you’re coming from. What makes matters worse is my Sky system is actually currently not working and it will be a week until an engineer gets here 😖
I too have been with Sky now for over 20 years and they tell me to watch Sky Go which I try to watch but it’s stuttering completely so I have no Sky working on anything, Sky really need to sort this out......Please
agreed m8 the last app was s**t and this new one is even worse, ever noticed how hot your com runs using this app if you can get it to work, compared to itv hub ect, a company as big as sky should be ashamed of themselves, who they got writing their s/w ken dods diddy men? and thier tech support is pants
The FOS won't help you - they have nothing to do with Sky services nor any control over Sky whatsoever.
If you want to make a complaint about Sky, their complaints procedure is detailed here - https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-customer-complaints-code-of-practice
Have you checked this list of applications - it includes some not on the main help page https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Go-Apps/Sky-Go-Error-Code-9903-on-MacBook-Pro-New-Sky-Go-App/m-p/2838766/highlight/true#M59239 .
If you have a 4g dongle, there are reports that the app for that can cause issues.
there are adverts on catup tv, I actually came here to ask, why is it you cannot minimize the screen while the adverts show...?, ...prob not many people will of noticed idk
forgot to add though, that once you hatched the content once, if you then rewind the playback you don't have to watch adverts subsequently infact there is then also a pause feature, i didn't realise about the pause feature and basically muted and alt-tabbed out of the application, but had then missed some of the program and therefore used the rewind feature, then i noticed no adverts now..
Sky Go not working on laptop?
For the many having problems with watching Skygo via a laptop: (stuttering sound quality)
I have discovered the problem is related to the Cisco guard (useless!)
Please try the following fiix
This should suffice until sky can fault find and improve the app. Good luck!
While the sky go app is running;
1. open task manager (control, alt, del)
2, Scroll across to ‘Details’
3. Scroll down to the two Cisco guard processes.
4. Right click on each and change their priority settings to above normal or higher if necessary.
This will improve the audio quality but not the video entirely (better than what I was getting)
Note:
when stopping the sky go app. All will return to the default mode. So, you will have to follow this procedure each time you use Sky Go
C’mon Sky ... get it sorted!
wrote: Basically though I thinki there is a very heavy 'copy protection' overhead in the app that means you will need a fairly powerful PC.
Yep! Even a 2016 i7 Mac with 8GB finds it hard work! My 2015 i5 Win 10 (8gb, SSD) can take it, but isn't happy about it.
Waaaaaay beyond the advertised specs.
Hi, does watching Sky TV via SkyGo use my mobile data or is it ZERO rated?
If i do watch SkyTV via SkyGO is there any compression terchnique used and what amount of mobile data would be used for 1 hours TV on mobile?
I phoned Sku customer support and was talked through deleting and reinstalling everything, it took over half an hour but it works fine now.
