Ok another issue about the Sky Go app.

Perhaps it's handy to have a mobile application like this on a tablet or phone but on a PC it's a very poor method to view your Sky subscription on a desktop computer.

Apart from the intrusive hardware demands, it does not offer all the channels you are paying for.

Yesterday I could not get Discovery Turbo.  Other times it was Quest or Food Network.

All of the +1 (one hour later) channels are absent.

Most News stations are missing.

As we know, the BBC channels are not there because of conflict with BBC iplayer.

But this was NOT the case when they had a website browser using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Silverlight.

The website may have been using older technology but it was better and more compatible than this app.

Sky Go restricts the viewing content your subscription is paying for.

The Cisco Videoguard is heavily demanding on systems, merely to protect Sky's paranoia of copyright protection, unlike the DRM procedures used by the better performing BT app.

Why is there nobody from Sky to answer why I and many others are losing programs they have every right to view?

Surely this thread should have brought this to their attention from the number of replies and complaints from genuine Sky customers?!

If no answer then what is the point of having this entire forum?

The channels available via the Windows app are exactly the same as those available on Android, IOS and the old Silverlight service.

+1 channels were never available via any solution.

If you have Q and are within the home network, you can stream any channel on the Android/IOS app (because it streams direct from the Q box).

I think the point has been missed.

Sky are offering a WORSE service than they did before with the website.

Why can I get Discovery but not Discovery Turbo and some other Discovery channels?  Why no Quest?  Why no Food Network?  I could go on and on!!

Why is the Sky Go app resource hungry while the BT app not?

Why are Sky so paranoid that they harm the service they offer their genuine customers??

That would be because the channels owners haven't approached Sky with regards to having these channels added to Sky Go, as they are not Sky owned channels then there is nothing Sky can do to force the owners to get them added.

Not sure they're available on Virgin's equivalent service either ? Discovery don't even make them available via their subscription channels on Amazon Prime

I just bought an iPad Pro 12.9 and the Sky Go and BT apps are spot on. Gave up fighting to use my laptop, sick of waiting on Sky!

Does it work without issues on Microsoft Surface devices?

Which is ios? And very little change from £1000? The problem is with windows and who in their right mind is going to pay that just to watch TV. More to the point, why should they?

Does the HDMI out work with that & Sky Go.

I'm interested in a device I can travel on business with and connect to hotel room TV.

Works very well via HDMI on my Intel NUC 7PJYH (100*100*50mm high micro PC).

Guys

this works. the folders are hidden. The lady at Sky talked me through it and it works now.

Uninstall Sky Go and Cisco and anything else Sky related.

Delete the is folder here -  C:\users\”username”\AppData\locallow\Microsoft\Silverlight\is

Delete the PlayReady folder here - C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady

Then follow the instructions here from "Delete Remaining Sky Go and Videoguard folders" onwards.

Reboot and then install the app again.

Hi-Basil-R

It was too complicated for me to explain what Rob advised me to do, but suggest you follow the information that Marks has recently posted. After his conversation with the support staff at Sky he resolved his issue the same as I did. Regards Peter

Do note that in Windows Explorer you need to make sure that you have it set to show hdden files/folders.

I would say it would depend on which model you get. My Asus Laptop has a Core M3 processor and it just cant cope with Sky Go at all its just all stutter.

Have you tried uninstalling the app then installing it again after a reboot, do note that you might loose your downloads by doing this.

Sky Sports App Useless

The Sky Sports App is useless.  When I watch Formula 1 I use the sky sports app to see extra content.  Unfortunately there are two major issues with the app:  The first is that the app stream is between 20 and 30 seconds "behind" the same picture on the TV.  Also how do I get rid of the annoying big red bar that blocks out nearly a fifth of the screen in the app for no appparent reason
