Re: New Sky Go app not working on my mac

Me too.   I'm older and have installed it about 12 times but it won't let me watch.  I've just moved into a new home and it worked yesterday, this is what is upsetting me as I'm bedbound a lot of the time and need TV in the bedroom until Sky install it in 10 days time.

You need the relevant Sky Tv subscription to watch **bleep** show. Code: 1310

I am getting this error in the SkyGo app for Mac when trying to view any channel. BBC, ITV etc.

I have removed the app (by deleting from Users/Applications/ directory) and downloaded a new version and installed.

I do not get asked for a username or password to log in. It just opens the application, so I assume I have some old settings saved somewhere and this is stopping me from viewing.

Any advice on a full uninstall and removal or settings or how I can re-enter the login details would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

A 1310 error means you are either logged in with the wrong ID or you are trying to view something that isn't part of your subscripition.

As there is no log out option to do so you would need to do this:

1. Close the App

2. Delete the Sky Go folder in Roaming on a Mac via Finder/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Delete Sky Go folder.

3. Open the App.

This is an old topic you are posting in and posting "Me too" doesn't really tell us what issues you are having, please supply as much detail as you can and perhaps someone on here can try to help you get it working.

I am also having this issue on MacOS High Siera. I don't think Sky would provide a refund for the service they clearly not providing that's already paid for. It's frustrating, can watch any of the sports I subscribed to.

I'm trying to download the Desktop Player but my virus detection on my laptop detects Artemis!F573C3F7AD35 trojan in the download and won't install it.  Is this a known problem?

Are you talking about the Sky Go app for your PC as it could be a false positive as nobody else has reported this on here ?

Sky Go with Sky Q - how many devices?

I currently have "normal" Sky HD and am able to use Sky Go to watch on 2 devices (laptop & tablet)

I am thinking I will upgrade to Sky Q (2TB box) at some point and would like to know what the situation is with Sky Go - will i still be able to use it on multiple devices to watch at same time and is it still 2 devices or has this increased at all?

If you take a multiscreen sub which I believe you have to do if upgrading to Sly Q you then get free access to Sky Go Extra which allows you to register 4 devices.

Thanks for your reply Caesarome, but you are incorrect.

I have just taken your advice and tried to sign into the sports app to watch the Villa game but it stated my device limit has been reached.

To clarify this is on the same iPad my sky go account is on.

Logically makes no sense, sky are punishing their own customers

I don't think I am wrong as I also have Sky Go on my iPad as well as the Sky Sports app and on using the Sports app it doesn't register as a new device for me so quite why you are seeing this message is beyond me.

What does it say if you now try to watch live tv on the Sky Go app on your iPad ?

sky go is working fine, but through the app it was telling me the device limit is reached and i needed to go to 'my managed devices'

Ok another issue about the Sky Go app.

Perhaps it's handy to have a mobile application like this on a tablet or phone but on a PC it's a very poor method to view your Sky subscription on a desktop computer.

Apart from the intrusive hardware demands, it does not offer all the channels you are paying for.

Yesterday I could not get Discovery Turbo.  Other times it was Quest or Food Network.

All of the +1 (one hour later) channels are absent.

Most News stations are missing.

As we know, the BBC channels are not there because of conflict with BBC iplayer.

But this was NOT the case when they had a website browser using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Silverlight.

The website may have been using older technology but it was better and more compatible than this app.

Sky Go restricts the viewing content your subscription is paying for.

The Cisco Videoguard is heavily demanding on systems, merely to protect Sky's paranoia of copyright protection, unlike the DRM procedures used by the better performing BT app.

Why is there nobody from Sky to answer why I and many others are losing programs they have every right to view?

Surely this thread should have brought this to their attention from the number of replies and complaints from genuine Sky customers?!

If no answer then what is the point of having this entire forum?

I have upgraded to Mojave and Sky Go has stopped working.  I have installed the latest version and when it launches it errors with "Initialisation failed to complete in a timely manner".

Any ideas?

The channels available via the Windows app are exactly the same as those available on Android, IOS and the old Silverlight service.

+1 channels were never available via any solution.

If you have Q and are within the home network, you can stream any channel on the Android/IOS app (because it streams direct from the Q box).

The only possible fix for the "Initialisation failed to complete in a timely manner" error is to do a complete removal of the app, Cisco and hidden folders, to do this follow the guide here, you can ignore the time and date bit. After doing this make sure there are no other versions of Cisco installed or anything Sky related then do a reboot before installing the app again.

This was exactly the problem with my Sky Go app (Sept 2018).  "Failed to initialize in a timely manner" and wouldn't do anything else.

Uninstalled the app, checked my Kaspersky AV, but I also permitted the 3x Cisco (one from Cisco Israel?).  I had to unhide all the folders and searched for the Users/ App Data/ Roaming/ Sky Go folder.   Deleted it and reinstalled the app and it works perfect.

I downloaded and used the BT Sport app on my Windows laptop today for the first time.  What a difference !  I watched the whole Man. U game in perfect HD without a single stutter, using a third of the computer resources that the Sky Go app uses.  It's a great pity that BT hasn't got the rights to all the premiership games.  If they had, I could tell Sky where to put their crappy stuttering resource hogging app.  Sky would be better off getting BT or whoever produced the BT app to develop theirs and get some satisfied customers.  I know that Sky takes no notice what-so-ever of any of these comments so I'm probably wasting my time but I feel really evil about this one and really wish that there was some alternative.
