Re: Sky Go app latest update not working on Mac

I was prompted to download the latest Sky Go update on Thursday the 16th of July for my mac. Since then the app won't work. When you launch it, it says "Checking for Updates" and then immediately crashes. It shows as Application not responding and the only way to get out of it is to force quit. 

I have un-installed it and re-installed a few times now and it's always the same. Just want to know if anyone else is having this issue and if there's any other suggestions for getting it to work. I have an old WIndows laptop that I managed to get the latest update working on so the issue seems to be specific to Macs.

Unfortunately, it's going to be as random as the last version - it stutters ers ers ers ers on my win 10 pc.

Is this version 8.3.0 - 8.3.0 -  surely not this issue all over again?

 , I am pretty sure you need multi screen so you can access programmes from your planner plus recordings. Makes sense to me

All sorted, spoke to Help Desk, they weren’t really sure what caused it but upgrade to Extra as part of VIP package and all good.

Following a Windows System Update yesterday ( therefore a reboot) no stutter or buffering on live or recorded content.

Fingers crossed perhaps Man Utd will beat Chelsea too.

You need a multiscreen sub if you want to watch your Sky Q recordings via the Sky Go app which isn't what the OP asked.

That is correct   you need to download the web player and once you have you can then watch content back via it. To download it untick the box saying you have already got it installed and it should then start to download.

Have you tried disconnecting the connection to your Sky Q via the settings on the apps if they are connected ?

The most absurd sequence of events I need to go through to get anything to play without the weird fast-forward thing I'm seeing. Basically, I have to find a programme with adverts in it and watch them in their entirety. I find something on catch-up. If the adverts play at the proper speed, watch them all, then go and watch the live TV I want to watch. 50% of the time the program play properly. The other half, it plays in fast-forward, then I have to go through the steps again. Sometimes also the adverts play in double speed, in which case I just go and do something else instead. No fixing it.

 

Seems like an issue with advertisements on my particular setup. I have all the bandwidth - 300mbps. GPU drivers are up to date Windows is fully up to date. I have a work laptop which is necessarily a few Windows 10 versions behind, and Sky Go works fine on that. Weird.

 

I suppose we should give it time and things should return to normal sith updates. That said, Sky ain't cheap, and Mr Murdoch owes me the streaming portability I pay for. It's 2020, Sky. We are no longer in the experimantal phase of the world wide web. Release software that works.

Thank you. Only issue for me is the website you sent us to doesn't have the HD channels. I guess I can live with it though unless there is a way to get the HD channels too?

If its the same streams as Sky Go, then its only 720p regardless?.

Regarding the Error Code 200 on Sky Go for Apple Mac i have noticed that when you open the app turn off the WIFI or disconect the lan cable if it is hardwired in then turn on the WIFI then click on the house Icon on the sky go app and it will load up. If the laptop goes in to sleep mode and the Sky Go App is open it will come up with the error again.

I've been a member of sky a while & never been able to look at VIP rewards via my sky app it says I cannot join and tried calling & emailing with no joy! Any advice please

 Thank you, that's exactly the issue and obviously why my reply was removed as you have corrected your post!

 

When there is a real crowd to make the noise, FINE, but when there is no crowd don't FORCE FAKE crowd noise on people! I guess the Darts/Cricket won't be changing so i'll be been FORCED out of watching them due to FAKE crowd noise! We are always being warned about FAKE news, FAKE emails and FAKE goods but FAKE crowd noise is now OK, gee thanks SKY!

Is this something Sky has only recently enforced? Mine has been for many months and is only now having the same issue as described by the original poster. Is there no way around this? Why would Sky enforce this?
