That would make life an awful lot easier for most folk I reckon.  Even were they to lift the 1 per month limit would make life so much easier.

How are you getting on with the new Sky Go app then? Guessing you've managed to register it as a device now?

I am disapointed, also by the text service for problems. I texted and was passed from advisor to advisor with no actual interaction. I just kept being told X is now availble and will be ntouch to discuss your query soon. Three times i was handed over, with now actual disscusion. thta was between 10am and 8pm.

Not great i am afraid.

i know Sky have lots of customers and this is probaby a minor problem in their product flow and roadmap, but it is still disapointing...

I don't think it is minor. If you search in Google this seems to happen with alot of devices when they are newky released. Come on sky update the app as you have for other devices or at least reply to give us an update.

It’s been like it two days now

Does the error message not go if you leave the app open for a few minutes?

Don't click try again or close it, just leave it showing that error and it may just disappear.

Exactly the same for Windows. It's been like this for 2 days now. Come on sky sort it out. At least you should have let us still watch it through a browser until these problems are rectified.

Happening for me also since around Saturday evening. This is awful, at least the old browser player worked, but Sky have closed that down.

Is there still no fix for this??

No it never goes away. I'm just like OP, same thing happening. Been happening since this weekend.

I've tried waiting and retrying. I've tried restarting computer. I've tried uninstalling installing, messing with firewall etc. This must be an issue with Sky.

Sky you need to fix this app you've forced us to use, or let us use the web browser again. Even when working Sky Go is low quality compared to other services, but this is just a joke!

You can use Internet Explorer 11 if you clear the cookies for it and go to the Sky Go website.

Probably not for much longer though.

Re: "New" Sky Go Windows Desktop App. Black Screen Then Locked Out.

I'm having the same problem, open Sky Go app from desktop (Win 10) and get a black screen and cursor thinking it over - no logon screen or blue screen before hand, just a black box.

Worked on first install then never again, have removed/reinstalled both sky app and silverlight several times now to no avail.

I've noticed a few times that although nothing is visible the app seems like its still running as if I wobble the mouse or click randomly on the black screen the cursor might change to a hand pointer cursor or a text cursor (that I presume is the search box).

I tried seeing if I could get something to play (like navigating a maze in the dark!) then realised it's ridiculous :-D

I'm happy to try anything if someone from Sky can suggest a fix?

- I don't have Kapersky, only Windows Defender at the moment. Very recently uninstalled McAfee.

- Windows 10 Home, 32bit, 2gb ram (not top end but there's nothing on it, fresh install 2weeks ago)

Cheers

Sky Go no longer works ever since Internet Explorer updated to version 10. With Windows 7 and new IE Silverlight no longer has compatability.

https://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default

(Look at the system requirements tab).

Firefox does not work, neither does Google Chrome, and neither does the Sky Go Download Player.

Sky website/help service is absolutely useless.

Cannot uninstall or go back to an older version of IE.

Is truly appalling service and Sky surely know about this as the Silverlight issue not being available on most browsers other than Internet Explorer is longstanding.

If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.

Hi, I have finally got the app wokring up to a point, have got picture but it is now seeming to echo quite a bit. (A bit like watching MaxHeadroom for all of you of my age who remeber that ;-)  )

I unistalled skygo and cisco then went start>this PC>top right hand corner search menu>typed sky>once everything had finally loaded anything to do with skygo I deleted>once deleted, typed in Cisco deleted everything again.

I then ran my CCleaner and wiped all that. Scanned the registery on CCleaner and clicked fix all issues.

Rebooted

Loaded sky go via I.E.

Clicked on download for windows as previous

Clicked run, once installed restarted laptop

Double clicked link on desktop

Once Skygo app had loaded I clicked on it and to my amazement it opened.

I have noticed the longer I leave it playing the less the echo effect.

I hope this helps someone else because this has been driving me crazy

As I reported earlier, my PCs that didn't have the new app installed on them still play the old system using Internet Explorer. The one PC which was 'contaminated' by having the new app installed would not run the old web system (The blue cliunky silverlight player.) So I uninstalled Cisco - which Sky puts on with the new app - without asking by the way - (and ran a registry cleaner) and BINGO! the old internet explorer hyperlink now works again with no prompt to download the new junk. The old one plays fine once you get the channel going, and setting the Sky 'what's on' page as the default home page saves a load of mucking around. So clean up your apps, and hunker down until Sky get the app sorted so it works. Oh and if you run out of slots on your devices phone Sky and play hell about the new app screwing up your devices. and they can wipe all your device registrations so you start again with a clean slate until your slots are full - none of this 'only one change a month!' Good luck and see you on the other side!

Heads up: Make the most of the Silverlight Sky Go as this will not be an option shortly so you will have to use the New App as this will be the only option

Re: New Windows desktop app... Stutter

I was force fed the App today as well and have now joined the growing ranks of customers having the stutter picture/sound and OTT CPU problems.  I think it's quite apparent it's videoguard that's the culprit and to see it's been going on for a while with no response is pretty poor tbh. It would of been nice to have at least been given the option to view via the old browser route until the App was test run flawlessly but i guess that is far too sensible an idea.

Watching anything now on SkyGo gives me an headache so give me a nudge in a year or two when they get thier act together.

Thanks.

I have the same issue, and quite possibly the highest spec PC of anyone in this forum.

Liquid cooled AMD Threadripper 1950x 16 core processor, 32 threads, 128gb ram, plethora of SSD's, Windows 10 Enterprise, several GPU's and twin 40" 4K monitors.

This is a high end 3d animation workstation. I create 4k content with renders in to the thousdands of CPU hours. I also have a 350meg fiber to the premesis connection.

And yet it won't run this "new" app, and indeed I have no way of watching Sky on my workstation at all any more.

The video and audio stutter from the outset, gradually becoming unwatchable until the entire stream locks up. No amount of restarting, cache clearing, switching channels etc. resolves it.

In my professional opinion, this app is still clearly in beta and should not be on public release, much less replacing the previous service based on Silverlight in Internet Explorer.

I won't be upgrading my sky Q to yet another multiroom box, and so if this issue is not resolved when my 18 month contract lapses I will not be renewing my subscription.

I pay a lot of money for a lot of premium online content. Full 4k Netflix, Amazon Pirime and Sky.

At one point Sky were industry leaders, but they have been overtaken by iother services with superior technology and a high focus on ensuring a premium exprience. Sky are rapidly becoming the Blockbuster of the online streaming world, and I have no confidence in their focus on changing their course any time soon. They are still obsessed with legacy satalite broadcasting, hence why they are being pushed out of the market by more savy companies who are prepared to evolve with technology and take full advantage of it.

Sky are on course to lose a customer of some 23 years, and I won't shed a tear.

All is working as it should once Sky reset and released a slot for me.  So yes the PC is now registered, again.

Oh something new to try, I live in hope. Someone mentioned VPN issues but I'm not using one(although I have done when Ive been abroad before and it worked fine). I'm not the only one in the uk having this problem? Just so I'm not going mad? I'm loathe to ring sky as I'll only get wound up waiting and they won't use the chat service for this issue....
