This has never been resolved with my sky go. I can watch some things, even like on itv channel, and then I will get the need to upgrade subscription message. Totally ridiculous.
Re: Sky go saying I need to upgrade subscription
Re: Sky Go Windows 10 Very High CPU
Call me crazy but I have another suggestion...Sky could develop an app that actually works without hammering CPU/GPU.
Does iPlayer app do this? No
Does BT app do this? No
Does Netflix app do this? No
Does NowTV do this? No
Does Youtube do this? No
Do illegal flash/torrent streams do this? No
£30billion? I think not!!
Re: New Windows desktop app... Stutter
I agree with most of what has been previously said regarding watching an almost unwatchable stuttering picture on Sky Go. The buffering is terrible which has to come down to some very inefficient application coding. I can watch any other streaming video with absolutely no problem EXCEPT SkyGo. Sky this has been going on too long now - GET IT FIXED !!!

Well for Android phones or tablets, instead of Intel HD500 or 600 GPUs read most typically MALI 400, 500 or 600 series GPUs which are included on the design...and they might well use the HEVC, MPEG, H264 or other IP blocks on them. The point is that on the PC architecture they don't use GPU processing capability to offload processes such as decoding from the CPU but even the very low end CPUs usually have such capability on board.
TC Machine was suggesting that if Sky enabled GPU support in the Windows app it would break the mobile version. I think we're both in agreement that isn't the case.
Totally different app structures for totally different architecture's. Fixing the Win10 app wouldn't affect the Android or iOS apps.
Funny though how they're able to make an app that worls for Android and iOS but Win10 not the case....
The more i think on it, the more it stinks for me
I read that Sky have announced end of support for the app on Windows phone and tablet devices in March 2019. Wouldn’t surprise me if they do away with supporting it on all Windows devices, including PCs & laptops.
If they had their way they’d ditch android support too.

Where'd you read that?

Re: New Windows desktop app... Stutter
If I had an android tablet that had a specific mini hdmi output port, could I feed sky go from that to my TV?
Re: error code pfe 4100
Same problem. All the fixes dont work.
Why is this App so unspeakably uselss? Almost everytime I use it I have some kind of error. It is a disgrace how bad this rubbish is.
Re: Error Code: PFE 9903 (MacBook Pro)
I now know what was causing my issue.... I had WD Discovery software running for my external network assisted hard drive. As soon as I uninstalled it Sky Go worked (on Macbook Pro). Now a toss up as to which I want more...... That was my resolution anyway. Thought I would share.

The article is wrong about Sky Go for Windows. Sky Go is not in the Windows Store.. Sky Go is downloaable from Sky. As for Windows Phone, that part is most likely correct.

The article is completely correct, but omits to mention that it's referring to Sky Italia's apps. (Check the image carefully and you'll see Italian channel names).
They've never had a Go app available in the UK Microsoft app store, be it for phone, pc or tablet.

I think last time I tried HDMI output was disabled on Android devices, been a while since I tried it though.

Yep, HDMI, Chromecasting and any other screen mirroring are blocked on the app

Thanks for the link. Odd they've used a still from SkyGo Italia and the article looks translated because it isn't exactly flowing-coherence.
I know in Italy they did drop a few things with regard to Win10 but that was because it got hacked.

Cheers both.
The biggest problem this issue is creating for me is that I travel a lot in Europe for work, and often find myself on my own in some foreign hotel or other. Before this crappy app was forced on us I'd get sky go up on my laptop and connect it via HDMI to the hotel room TV. Home from home. I wondered if I got a device on which the app works, such as a little android tablet with a HDMI port, I could do it with that.
Seems they're out to spoil the party no matter what.
Re: Sky Go App, Stuttering Picture and Sound.
Since Sky forced the switch to the online player, it has remained unusable without the need for turning all security off the device. Even then it is mostly unwatchable (i5, 8GB, SSD)
They have shown no interest in fixing it. I have since cancelled my Sky Sports subscription and recommend others do the same,
Sky Go Extra - New Account
I just subscribed to sky and I have the multi screen package which I thought gave me sky go extra and 4 devices .... it looks like all I have is the 2 .
the screenshot shows my basic package ... am I right in thinking I should have 4 devices and extra?
Re: Sky Go Extra - New Account
Hi
You should have Sky Go Extra which would give you the ability to register 4 devices but sometimes it can take Sky's system's a little while to catchup if your account as only just gone live, so I would leave it for 24 hours and if after this time Sky Go Extra still hasn't been activated then I would contact Sky support about it:
