ive tried uninstalling reinstalling also added cisco in to my fire wall exceptions as it wasnt in there the sky player was, looking back through the community  post i see this error has shown its head loads of time with no answer fro @sky staff , why is it so hard for a sky tech to comment on the error and help thier customers and provide a service we pay for,  and it was working fine before the last update Smiley Sad

Having just downloaded the sky go app on my computer i am getting the error code of being outside of the uk.

 

I have checked the easy things - location and region on app and computer - set to the correct place.

 

Any ideas please?

Who is your ISP it isn't Vodafone is it ?

You will have to contact Sky support about this  so they can look into it for you as you should be able to access all content on Sky Go until your viewing card in your Sky Q box is activated then the content you can access will match your tv subscription.

Just to point out to people - even if you are in contract you can cancel Sky & not incur any early termination charges.

 

You have to ring up & be put through to the accessibility team & explain to them that the lack of subtitles on the iPad (or whatever device you are using) renders the service useless to you.

 

I love watching some Netflix in bed on my iPad - I hardly ever watch TV - I get maybe 2 hours before bed to catch up on shows, there was no point in me having Sky without there being subtitles on the iPad.

 

Sorry if it sounds like I'm teaching you how to suck eggs - but don't think just because you are in contract you have to put up with this - you don't.

 

I've used other streaming/on demand services around the world & Sky is the worst I have come across for accessibility reasons - I now subscribe to Now TV which gives me subtitles on films & (some) TV... even though it's cheaper, Now TV is much better for those that are hearing impaired.

I have cancelled. I mentioned the lack of subtitles as part of the reason, but to be honest the cost is just ridiculous.

I tried deleting it previously. but those extra steps helped.

Hi, I've discovered that you can only use sky go over a wifi /broadband connection, so 4G wont work unless presumably, you have a sky mobile or tablet. It seems sky is not offering anything to customers unless it's on their own terms. Sky go would be great if you could use it on the go as it suggests, but how many of us can link to a good enough wifi connection on the go to be able to use it? Useless piece of advertising hype, as usual.

Sky Go works over a 4G connection - you just need to select "Settings" -> "Network Preferences" in the app and tick the box to allow streaming over 3g/4g .

well after a few hours with support on messenger ive fixed my errors by uninstaling the skygo app and cisco ty to   this is from my chat message with sky staff 

 

To try and resolve your issue, we'll need to fully uninstall Sky Go and it's associated files. Before we can do that, we need to make sure the Application is closed and has stopped it's background processes. To do this: 1. On your keyboard, press 'Ctrl', 'Alt' and 'Delete' at the same time to bring up Task Manager. 2. Go to the 'Processes' section. 3. Find 'CiscoVideoGuardMonitor.exe', then click 'End Process'. You might have to click 'End Process' again if prompted to do so.

Finally, we need to delete all the remaining hidden files/folders associated with the App, but first, you’ll need to make sure you can view any hidden files. To do this: 1. Click the Start button, then select 'Computer'. 2. Select 'Organise', then 'Folder and search options'. 3. Click the 'View' tab, make sure the box next to 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' is ticked, then press 'OK' to confirm.
 
 
And to delete the remaining folders: 1. Click the Start button then select 'Computer'. 2. Open the '(CSmiley Happy Drive', select 'Users' then your username. Select 'AppData' then 'Local', then select 'Cisco'. 3. Delete the VideoGuardPlayer folder. 4. Open the '(CSmiley Happy Drive', select 'Users' then your username. Select 'AppData' then 'LocalLow', then select 'Cisco'. 5. Delete the VideoGuardPlayer folder. 6. Open the '(CSmiley Happy Drive, select 'Users' then your username. Select 'AppData' then 'Roaming'. 7. Delete the Sky folder and the Sky Go folder. 5. Open the Downloads folder, then delete all ‘SkyGoInstaller’ files. Once you’re done, empty your Recycle Bin.
 
To see if the issue is now resolved, we need to reinstall Sky Go and test it.

i signed in to an old sky account on the sky go app on my laptop and i dont know how to sign out to sign in to the exsisting account because i cant find a sign out button

There is no sign out button so to logout try this:

 

1. Close the App

2. Delete the Sky Go folder in Roaming on Windows (c:\users|<user>\AppData\Roaming\Delete Sky Go folder).

I have been using the Sky Go app for a long time but the last update broke it. I have a windows 10 PC and it was working fine then.... YOU MESSED WITH IT AGAIN

 

So it loads up, fine no issues and as soon as it gets the splash screen loaded it turns black, totally black. No bar at the top or anything.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that didnt work.

Netflix and Amazon work fine on my PC. See the photo I have added for my viewing pleasure... (or lack of)

First thing to try:

 

Try placing the mouse pointer on edge of black screen till you get arrow then hold the left mouse button and stretch screen to see if Sky Go pops up.

Son has TV from Sky on his Xbox but doesn't have access to all channels and catch up TV is this right?

The channels you son can access should match those that you subscribe to view your Sky account and that includes catchup and all the channels that are on the platform. Not all tv channels are present due to rights reasons but those that are he should be able to view if you subscribe to them so what is happening when he tries to, does he see any error messages and if so what does it say ?
